These Author Guidelines are designed to assist authors in preparing and submitting their manuscripts to Jurnal Pendidikan: Media, Strategi, dan Metode. The purpose of these guidelines is to ensure that all submitted manuscripts meet the quality, ethical, originality, citation, and formatting standards established by the journal. Authors are strongly encouraged to read and follow these guidelines carefully before submitting their manuscripts so that the editorial, review, and publication processes can be conducted efficiently.

Important Requirement: Plagiarism Screening, Reference Manager Use, and Reference Recency

All manuscripts submitted to Jurnal Pendidikan: Media, Strategi, dan Metode must comply with the journal’s plagiarism, reference management, and academic integrity requirements. These requirements are among the most important conditions that must be fulfilled before a manuscript can proceed to the editorial screening stage. Manuscripts that do not meet these requirements may be returned to the authors or rejected during the initial evaluation process.

Each manuscript must be screened for plagiarism or similarity using a recognized similarity-checking tool, such as Turnitin or iThenticate. The maximum allowed similarity index is 20%, including properly cited sources, references, and other detected similarities. Manuscripts with a similarity index higher than 20% may be returned to the authors for revision or rejected if the level of similarity indicates a serious originality problem.

Authors are required to attach the similarity report when submitting their manuscript. The report must clearly show the overall similarity percentage and should be submitted together with the manuscript file and other required submission documents. A manuscript submitted without a similarity report may be considered incomplete and may not proceed to the next stage of the publication process.

The use of a reference manager is mandatory for all submitted manuscripts. Authors must prepare citations and references using a recognized reference management tool, such as Mendeley, Zotero, or EndNote, with Mendeley being strongly recommended by the journal. Manuscripts with inconsistent citations, incomplete references, or references that are not properly managed through a reference manager may be returned to the authors for correction before the review process.

Authors must also ensure that their manuscripts use recent, relevant, and credible references. At least 70% of the references must come from sources published within the last five years. This requirement is intended to ensure that the manuscript reflects current scholarly discussions, recent empirical findings, and updated developments in the field of education.

Older references may still be used when they are theoretically important, methodologically relevant, or recognized as foundational sources in the field. However, authors should not rely too heavily on outdated references if recent studies are available. Manuscripts that do not meet the reference recency requirement may be returned to the authors for revision before proceeding to the peer-review process.

The journal may conduct an additional plagiarism or similarity check during the editorial screening process. The editorial team may also check the use of reference managers and the recency of references before the manuscript is sent to reviewers. These checks are intended to ensure the originality, academic integrity, citation accuracy, and scholarly relevance of each submitted manuscript.

1. General Guidelines

Language: Manuscripts may be written in Indonesian or English. However, manuscripts written in English are highly preferred because they increase the visibility, accessibility, and international readership of the journal. Authors who submit manuscripts in English are expected to use clear, accurate, and academic language, while manuscripts written in Indonesian must use formal academic language and may be required to include English titles, abstracts, and keywords.

Format: Manuscripts must be submitted in Microsoft Word format, either .doc or .docx. Authors may also be asked to provide a PDF version when necessary for administrative or review purposes. The manuscript should use Times New Roman, 12-point font size, 1.5 line spacing, and 1-inch margins on all sides, unless otherwise stated in the journal template.

Manuscript Length: The manuscript should not exceed 8,000 words, including references, tables, figures, and appendices. Authors are encouraged to write clearly, systematically, and concisely while still providing sufficient explanation of the research background, method, findings, discussion, and conclusion. Manuscripts that are excessively long or do not follow the required structure may be returned to the authors for formatting adjustment before review.

2. Manuscript Structure

Title Page: The title page must include a clear, concise, and informative manuscript title. The title should accurately reflect the focus, scope, and main content of the study. The title page must also include the full names of all authors, institutional affiliations, and the email address of the corresponding author.

Abstract: The abstract should not exceed 250 words. It must briefly present the purpose of the study, research methodology, main findings, and conclusion. The abstract should be written clearly and concisely so that readers can understand the overall content, direction, and contribution of the manuscript.

Keywords: Authors must provide 3–5 keywords that are relevant to the topic of the manuscript. The keywords should represent the main concepts, variables, methods, or research context of the study. Properly selected keywords help improve the discoverability, indexing, and visibility of the article in academic databases and search engines.

Introduction: The introduction should present the background of the problem, research gap, research objectives, and research questions or hypotheses. It should include a brief but relevant review of previous studies to support the importance and novelty of the research. Authors are expected to explain why the research is necessary and how it contributes to the development of knowledge and practice in education, particularly in relation to educational media, learning strategies, and teaching methods.

Methodology: The methodology section must provide a clear and detailed explanation of the research design, participants or data sources, instruments, data collection procedures, and data analysis techniques. If the research involves human participants or animals, authors must state that ethical approval or informed consent has been obtained where applicable. The methodology should be written in sufficient detail so that the study can be understood, evaluated, and replicated by other researchers.

Results: The results section should present the main findings of the study clearly and objectively. Authors may use tables, graphs, charts, figures, or diagrams when necessary to support the presentation of the data. This section should focus on reporting the findings without excessive interpretation and must directly correspond to the research questions, objectives, or hypotheses.

Discussion: The discussion section should interpret the findings by relating them to relevant theories, previous studies, and the broader educational context. Authors should explain the meaning of the findings, their implications, and how they contribute to existing knowledge. This section should also discuss the limitations of the study and provide suggestions for future research, without merely repeating the results.

Conclusion: The conclusion should summarize the main findings of the study and explain their implications for educational theory, practice, policy, or future research. Authors may include recommendations for teachers, researchers, policymakers, or other relevant stakeholders when appropriate. The conclusion should be concise but meaningful, and it must highlight the main contribution of the manuscript.

References: All references must follow the citation style required by the journal, preferably the APA style of referencing. Authors must use a reference manager, such as Mendeley, Zotero, or EndNote, to ensure citation accuracy, reference consistency, and proper formatting. The use of a reference manager is mandatory, and manuscripts with inconsistent or manually disorganized references may be returned to the authors for correction.

At least 70% of the references must come from sources published within the last five years. Authors are encouraged to prioritize recent journal articles, academic books, proceedings, and other credible scholarly sources that are directly relevant to the manuscript topic. Foundational or classical references may be used when necessary, but they should be balanced with recent studies to strengthen the relevance and academic contribution of the manuscript.

All sources cited in the text must be included in the reference list, and all references listed must be cited in the manuscript. Authors must carefully check the accuracy of author names, publication years, article titles, journal names, volume numbers, issue numbers, page ranges, and DOI links when available. Incomplete, inaccurate, outdated, or inconsistent references may delay the editorial process.

Appendices: Appendices may be included when necessary to support the transparency and completeness of the manuscript. They may contain additional data, research instruments, interview guidelines, questionnaires, observation sheets, rubrics, or other supporting materials relevant to the study. Appendices should only be included when they provide useful additional information and support the reader’s understanding of the research.

3. Manuscript Submission

Submission System: Manuscripts must be submitted through the journal’s online submission system or via email according to the instructions provided on the journal website. Authors must ensure that the manuscript file and all required supporting documents are complete before submission. Incomplete submissions may delay the editorial process or may be returned to the authors for completion.

Required Submission Documents: Authors must submit the manuscript file together with all required supporting documents, including the similarity report generated by Turnitin, iThenticate, or another recognized similarity-checking tool accepted by the journal. The similarity report must show that the manuscript has a maximum similarity index of 20%. Authors must also ensure that all citations and references have been prepared using a reference manager and that at least 70% of the references are from the last five years.

Submission Form: Authors are required to complete the submission form provided by the journal. The form may include author information, manuscript title, abstract, keywords, contact details, ethical declarations, and confirmation that the manuscript has passed the similarity screening requirement. Authors must ensure that all information provided in the submission form is accurate, complete, and consistent with the manuscript file.

Ethical Statement: Authors must provide a statement confirming that the manuscript is original, has not been published previously, and is not currently under review by another journal. Any potential conflict of interest, financial support, research funding, or institutional sponsorship must be clearly disclosed. This statement is required to protect the integrity of the publication process and to ensure transparency between authors, editors, reviewers, and readers.

4. Revision and Resubmission

Response to Reviewers: If the manuscript requires revision, authors must respond to the reviewers’ comments carefully and in detail. Each comment should be addressed clearly, and the revised manuscript must reflect the required improvements. Authors are encouraged to prepare a response letter explaining how each reviewer’s comment has been addressed in the revised manuscript.

Resubmission: The revised manuscript must be submitted within the time specified by the editor. Authors should include a response letter explaining the changes made in response to the reviewers’ and editor’s comments. The response letter should be systematic, polite, and clear so that the editor and reviewers can easily evaluate the revision.

Similarity and Reference Recheck: Revised manuscripts may be checked again for similarity by the authors or the journal. If substantial changes are made during revision, authors may be asked to submit an updated similarity report. Authors must also recheck all citations and references using a reference manager and ensure that the reference list still meets the requirement that at least 70% of references are from the last five years.

5. Ethical and Copyright Policy

Publication Ethics: Authors are responsible for ensuring that their manuscript follows the principles of academic integrity and publication ethics. Plagiarism, self-plagiarism, data fabrication, data falsification, duplicate publication, citation manipulation, and unethical authorship practices are strictly prohibited. Any manuscript found to violate publication ethics may be rejected, withdrawn, or subject to further editorial action according to the journal’s policy.

Copyright and Publishing Rights: Authors retain the copyright of their work. By submitting and publishing their manuscript in Jurnal Pendidikan: Media, Strategi, dan Metode, authors grant the journal the right to publish, distribute, and make the article available through the journal’s open access platform. This arrangement supports open access publication while ensuring that authors’ intellectual rights remain protected.
