Abstract

This study aims to improve student learning outcomes in Indonesian language subjects through the implementation of the cooperative learning model Teams Games Tournament (TGT) in Grade II of SD Negeri 064024 Medan. The research employed a Classroom Action Research (CAR) design, conducted in two cycles consisting of planning, action, observation, and reflection stages. Data were collected through observation, learning outcome tests, and documentation. The results showed a significant improvement in student learning outcomes across the cycles. In the pre-cycle phase, only 25% of students met the Minimum Mastery Criteria (KKM). After applying the TGT model, the percentage increased to 55% in cycle I and reached 95% in cycle II, with an average final score of 81.6. In addition to improved academic achievement, there were notable enhancements in student engagement and teacher performance during the learning process. The study concludes that the TGT cooperative learning model is effective in enhancing students’ Indonesian language learning outcomes. The findings suggest that TGT can serve as an innovative and enjoyable alternative strategy to improve the quality of learning in elementary schools.
